OWL CLI

One instruction to make Agent operateGuance

Copy the installation instructions to the AI Agent, replace the workspace endpoint and temporary authorization code, and synchronize OWL CLI, Owl Skill, authentication configuration, and tool directory to complete the process.

Copy the following content into the AI tool's dialog window to execute, first select Endpoint by site, then replace the temporary authorization code:

Read https://static.guance.com/owl/skill.md to install and configure Owl CLI and Owl Skill in your current environment according to the documentation.

Installation parameters are as follows:
OWL_REGISTRY_ENDPOINT="<OWL_REGISTRY_ENDPOINT>"
OWL_TEMP_CODE="<YOUR_TEMP_CODE>"

OWL_REGISTRY_ENDPOINT If not generated in the console, please install the documentation according to the workspace's affiliated site Endpoint tableSelection;OWL_TEMP_CODE It is generated on the Guance console's "Personal API Key" page.
For Linux / macOS manual installation, first select Endpoint by site, then replace the temporary authorization code:

export OWL_INSTALL_BASE_URL="https://static.guance.com/owl"
export OWL_REGISTRY_ENDPOINT="<OWL_REGISTRY_ENDPOINT>"
export OWL_TEMP_CODE="<YOUR_TEMP_CODE>"
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL "${OWL_INSTALL_BASE_URL}/install.sh")" -- --yes

Frequently asked questions

Is OWL CLI just a command-line tool?

No. The OWL CLI is first and foremost a command-line entry point that engineers can use directly, and it can also serve as a tool layer for AI Agent to invoke Guance capabilities. Its value lies in organizing queries, diagnostics, and context into a unified, executable, and reviewable tool catalog.

What Guance capabilities can the OWL CLI enable AI Agent to invoke?

Available capabilities depend on tool catalogs, configurations, and API Key permissions. Typical scenarios include querying, diagnosing, and contextualizing observation objects such as logs, metrics, links, events, RUM, APM, infrastructure, monitors, dashboards, as well as monitoring and alerting, resources and topology, configuration and platform, dashboard and Kanban operations.

How to quickly install OWL CLI?

You can start by automatically installing documentation. Install and configure OWL CLI and OWL Skill in the current environment according to the documentation. Once connected, you can call Guance capabilities via command line or AI Agent workflows.

What is the relationship between OWL CLI and Guance MCP Server?

OWL CLI is more like a local command and tool execution layer, suitable for engineer terminals, scripts, and Agent workflows; Guance MCP Server acts more like a protocol bridge, suitable for connecting Guance capabilities to AI clients that support MCP. The two can be used together to jointly provide AI-assisted troubleshooting.
