Observability data gateway

The Data Gateway is an observable SDWAN product jointly developed by Guance and Zhongyulian. It aims to leverage SDWAN's full-link data transmission attributes, Guance unified real-time data monitoring, analyze access experience and dynamic performance data during application operation, solve fault location issues caused by unreachable applications, enhance user experience, and thereby promote enterprise business value-added growth.

Observable data gateway architecture

Global SASE backbone networking

The observable data gateway provides a global backbone network, with 38 domestic POP points and 12 international POP points. It offers users a secure, reliable, high-quality, flexible, and globally covered networking method, enabling network interconnection among multiple branches, public cloud, private cloud, and mobile users, as well as globally optimized accelerated access.

Data observation

The observable data gateway provides a unified end-to-end system observable platform, capable of collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing metrics, logs, application link tracing, RUM real user experience monitoring, and other data, helping teams build unified panoramic monitoring capabilities across business, application, and infrastructure dimensions.

Observable data gateway customer cases

Customer challenges

  • Using open-source solutions to build self-built monitoring, such as Promethues, Skywalking, Elk, etc., monitoring data is fragmented and troubleshooting takes longer;
  • Lack of on-device access experience data makes it difficult to judge the true impact of network, page, and interface issues on the business;
  • Some IT systems are provided by multiple third parties, requiring multiple companies to jointly investigate issues, leading to disputes and uncontrollable repair times;
  • Real access feedback should guide system function and performance optimization directions to reduce invalid changes.

Solutions

  • Through the data gateway, developers and operations personnel can focus on tracking issues through a single platform and monitor the performance metrics of all application components in real time, improving debugging and troubleshooting efficiency and enhancing team collaboration;
  • Use Guance in R&D testing environments to improve R&D efficiency and identify as many issues as possible during the R&D testing phase;
  • According to different business needs, it flexibly records and displays various types of business data, better understanding business operations and internal structure, thereby optimizing business operations.

Customer value

  • Comprehensive collection and presentation of product metrics deployed in the cloud (including ECS, RDS, etc.), making monitoring more granular, while using observations to build real-time monitoring and quickly understand system operating status;
  • From the perspective of affecting customer experience, identify potential system bottlenecks, quickly pinpoint root causes, solve problems, and significantly improve product quality and user satisfaction;
  • Through the platform's comprehensive observable row data and snapshot sharing capabilities, the ability to collaborate with third parties in problem troubleshooting is significantly improved.

Customer challenges

  • As a benchmark enterprise for digital transformation, it has invested significant human and material resources on digital platforms and actively innovated, but this has also led to the problem of disconnect between business data and system data. Business staff often do not understand the changes in digital platform processes, and conversely, IT staff are no exception, sometimes unable to understand each other's data between development and operations;
  • Real data feedback is needed to guide system function and performance optimization, reducing invalid changes.

Solutions

  • Through Guance, developers and operations staff can focus on tracking issues through a single platform and monitor the performance metrics of all application components in real time, improving debugging and troubleshooting efficiency and enhancing team collaboration;
  • Write custom scripts and integrate them into monitoring systems to enable business-based automated monitoring and scalability, allowing business teams to capture richer data and use it for deeper analysis and decision-making;
  • According to different business needs, it flexibly records and displays various types of business data, better understanding business operations and internal structure, thereby optimizing business operations.

Customer value

  • Comprehensive collection and presentation of product metrics deployed in the cloud (including ECS, RDS, etc.), making monitoring more granular, while using observations to build real-time monitoring and quickly understand system operating status;
  • From the perspective of affecting customer experience, identify potential system bottlenecks, quickly pinpoint root causes, solve problems, and significantly improve product quality and user satisfaction;
  • It enables full-link linked monitoring of front-end, network, back-end, middleware, infrastructure, logs, and cloud resources, enabling R&D, testing, and operations to collaborate on issue resolution on a single platform, greatly improving communication efficiency;

Frequently asked questions

What scenarios are observable data gateways suitable for?

Suitable for scenarios such as chain stores, branches, cross-regional offices, SD-WAN networking, and multi-cloud access, especially for teams that need to simultaneously assess network links, application services, and access experience issues.

What is the difference between a data gateway and traditional network monitoring?

Traditional network monitoring usually only looks at links and device status, Guance observable data gateway links network, applications, logs, links, and real access experience data to help teams determine whether anomalies affect business.

How to locate the cause when the store app is unreachable?

Teams can dig down layer by layer from access experience, network links, cloud resources, interface traces, logs, and alert events to determine whether the problem comes from the store network, backbone links, third-party systems, or backend services.
