Industrial observability

Bring unified observability to the production floor

Connect production equipment, control systems and edge collectors through industrial protocols including Modbus, OPC UA and MQTT. Bring equipment metrics and exception events into one observability platform.

Read-only collection leaves field control logic unchanged while supporting production safety and data visibility.

01

Modbus TCP / RTU

Read device registers, discrete values and status data from common PLCs and instruments

02

OPC UA

Use subscriptions or compatible polling while retaining device data quality status

03

MQTT 3.1.1

Support encrypted transport and message delivery quality levels for JSON and text data

04

Metrics and exception events

Organize signals by device and production line, retaining collection timestamps and business tags

01 / PROTOCOLS

Connect field devices and collect operational data

Collect equipment status, metrics and exception events near the source without changing existing control systems, then send them to Guance for querying, analysis and alerting.

Connect control cabinets, PLCs, instruments and production equipment using existing protocols and network conditions. View operational signals across devices and production lines in one platform.

Read-only collection leaves control logic unchanged

The solution collects equipment status and production data without sending control commands to PLCs or control systems.

02 / DATA FLOW

Connect the production floor to Guance

Keep recording and forwarding device data through network fluctuations, device differences and traffic peaks. See where data comes from and its current status.

01

Field devices

PLCs, instruments, control cabinets and production equipment

02

Edge data collection

Handle industrial protocols, data preparation and offline buffering

03

Secure data forwarding

Aggregate field data and forward it reliably to Guance

04

Guance platform

View equipment status, exception events, trends and alerts

Buffer field data through network interruptions

The edge collector prepares, compresses and temporarily stores data, then resumes transfer when connectivity returns. Data types are isolated so that an individual device failure does not block the entire collection path.

  • Read-only collection protects the field control boundary
  • Batching and compression reduce network and storage load
  • Temporary offline storage supports transfer after reconnection
  • Unified dashboards and alerts surface equipment and production-line anomalies

03 / VALIDATION

Validate collection under sustained high throughput

Sustained load testing evaluates processing capacity, resource use and data integrity when many devices report data at the same time.

These results come from a simulated MQTT load test of sustained high-throughput collection. Actual project results depend on device count, protocol configuration, network conditions and deployment specifications. Validate the solution in the customer environment before production rollout.

04 / SCOPE

Define capability boundaries to protect production systems

The solution focuses on read-only industrial data collection, reliable forwarding and unified analysis. It does not replace field control systems or write to devices.

01

Supported scope

Collect data through Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA and MQTT, and analyze it in Guance.

02

Safety boundary

No device control, parameter delivery, register writes or control-loop write-back.

03

Before rollout

Complete integration and acceptance testing against actual device models, certificate policies, network conditions and operating systems.
